Successes

Curt Flood's court case led to the Messersmith-McNally hearing. This case was won by Messersmith and McNally and what Curt Flood started was finally accomplished.

This was a huge success for many players in the MLB. After this was passed they could sell themselves to the highest bidder, in turn making a lot more money then they would have prior to this case.

Failures

Curt Flood's hearing was a very bad thing for all franchises. His case led to the Free Agency, which made it so that if a franchise wants a player that they have to outbid other franchises. This made any given franchise lose a lot of money.

This case was also a failure because it gave Curt Flood a bad reputation as a man who already makes a lot of money, but is not satisfied and wants more. Even though Curt Flood may have been able to make even more money with another franchise, his fight for the free agency was not for himself only. His idea was for the players who sit the bench on one team, but if they go to another team they may be able to to get their chance to play.

Consequences

Curt Flood, whether he reazlized it at the time or not, changed baseball forever. He led the way for the Free Agency, and you can also say that he was the reason that players have more choice in the current MLB.

Another major consequence of Curt Flood's actions is that franchises with more money can now become dominant by buying the better players. Some current day franchises have much more money than others, and can buy the better players leaving the mediocre players to less wealthy franchises.
